The Eternal Cosmic Light
Akasha is the Sanskrit word for aether — the fifth element and the eternal cosmic light that permeates the universe. In Vedic and Tantric cosmology, it is the subtlest of all elements, the primordial space in which the other four arise. Kashmir Shaivism describes it as the very body of Shiva-consciousness — pure awareness taking the form of space.
